After four long years of war with Parthia, Emperor Nero has brokered a peace deal ending the conflict. The outline of the treatise will allow Tiridates to again become King of Armenia; however, as a clause of this agreement he must come to Rome for an official coronation ceremony to be held by Nero himself.For the past few months, tensions in the province of Syria have grown to boiling proportions. The Parthians have been amassing large legions of troops for an all out invasion of Syria while the Honored Roman Commander and Governor of Syria, Gnaeus Domitius Corbulo, recently stated, “We have defeated them once, and we shall see victory again!” We are overjoyed to know that such a potential great loss of life has been averted.
Throughout the entire ordeal the Roman treasury has been strained, and concerns have been raised in regard to the safe arrival of grain to the Eastern Roman territories. Many citizens of Rome are ecstatic over the prospect of peace and the financial and logistical problems that it will solve.
By keeping his ego in check while under the pressures of warfare and continuing to show concern for the lower classes, Nero has won both a Victory for the great empire of Rome and for his political career. As a result Roman citizens have been partaking in much deserved celebrations throughout the provinces while praising their Emperor’s name. Today is a great day in Roman history.
